Wisdom teeth pain

Wisdom teeth pain can be quite uncomfortable. It often occurs when the wisdom teeth (the last set of molars) start to emerge, or if they don't have enough space to grow properly, leading to impaction. Common causes of wisdom teeth pain include:

  1. Impacted teeth: When the wisdom teeth can't emerge fully because they’re blocked by other teeth or bone.

  2. Infection or inflammation: A partially erupted wisdom tooth can cause gum inflammation or infection (pericoronitis).

  3. Cavities or tooth decay: If your wisdom teeth aren't properly aligned, they can be difficult to clean and more prone to cavities.

  4. Pressure on nearby teeth: When wisdom teeth emerge, they can push against adjacent teeth, causing pain.

If you're experiencing severe pain, swelling, or signs of infection, it's best to see a dentist. They can evaluate whether your wisdom teeth need removal or if there's another underlying cause. In the meantime, warm salt water rinses, pain relievers, or cold compresses may help alleviate some discomfort.
